Devotional Prayer

Lord, Jesus, You are my Prince of Peace. In John 14:27. You said, ”Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” How I praise You, Lord, that as your follower, I do not have to fear the future.

As I pause just now for a moment of silence, please reveal anything about which I am in a state of worry, fear, or doubt. [Take a moment to be silent and note anything God brings to mind]

Lord, I acknowledge that I have allowed worry to take over my thoughts regarding _____________________________. You tell us in Your holy, inspired Word: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians.4:6)

Lord, thank You for the many ways You have met my needs over the years. I confess that I am struggling to believe You are working for my good in the situation(s) You brought to mind. I confess that Your peace has eluded me. I need Your peace and I ask You to help me overcome my unbelief.

Thank You for __________________________________ [some good thing you have seen God do lately—for life and beauty or whatever has encouraged, comforted, or strengthened you].

I thank You for Your assurance that in this world we will have trouble, but we can take heart because You have overcome the world (John 16:33). I ask today for Your peace that surpasses all understanding amidst the circumstances of my day. Fill every nook and cranny of my being with Your Holy Spirit and envelop me in Your life-sustaining, comfort-bringing peace. You are not just the Prince of Peace. You are MY Prince of Peace.
